SMILES FOR CENTRAL AMERICA

Dr. Gehring has had many wonderful and life changing opportunities to travel to Central America for Humanitarian dental trips with his wife and kids.  

So far he has traveled to Honduras (Tegucigalpa, April 2011), Guatemala (Guatemala City, April 2012), Guatemala (Quetzaltenango, Nov 2012), and Nicaragua (Managua, November 2013).

They travel with a humanitarian organization called Smiles for Central America.  While there the group is able to perform dental work on approximately 700 - 900 patients.  Many of the patients they treat have never, ever been to a dentist.  Dr. Gehring and his family share a deep love and concern for the wonderful people of Central America and have come to love the rich cultures and unique beauties of each of the countries they have visited.  It is a very cherished "vacation" that they look forward to each year.

Besides dental work, there are many opportunities for additional humanitarian services. Orphanages, Hospitals and Schools are also visited and given many helpful humanitarian supplies.  Somehow this group miraculously travels to Central America each April and November.  As a result, there is always a need for humanitarian supplies.  If you are interested in donating items for Dr. Gehring or the organization to take with them on their next trip, please take a look at the official website of the organization.  There you will be able to read more about the amazing work that is done as well as learn how to make donations as well.  Of course you are welcome to talk to Dr. Gehring about donation ideas as well as other opportunities to help with this great cause.
